Admissions Process

Welcome to York Prep Admissions

The Admissions team is here to help determine if York Prep is the right environment for your child through a welcoming and transparent admissions process.

The admissions process begins with a completed application. York Prep Admissions uses online applications through Ravenna. Ravenna allows you to apply to York Prep and track the status of your application online.

Preliminary application materials are due by December 16th. All additional materials must be received by January 9th for a February admissions decision.

Admissions Step-by-Step
1
Attend an Information Session (Optional)

We understand space is limited. Families are able to complete the application and schedule an interview prior to attending an information session.

2
Start Application

Apply online through Ravenna.

The application requests a photograph of the applicant. We prefer a photo that clearly shows the candidate’s face.

3
Arrange for Testing

York Prep is test-optional. Applicants can take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) or the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT). You must list York Prep as a school to which you want scores sent. Our school codes are:

ISEE: 336555 SSAT: 8398

4
Transcript and Recommendations

Request a transcript from the applicant’s current school. Plan to ask current English and Math teachers, and guidance counselor/dean, to fill out the reference forms through Ravenna.

You are welcome to submit additional references.

5
Additional Documentation

Students applying for the Jump Start program must submit a current (within 2-3 years) neuropsychological evaluation and/or an IEP to be eligible for the Jump Start program.

6
Tour and Interview

We must have received your completed application form before an interview can be scheduled. You will be able to self select an interview time slot through Ravenna.

7
Admissions Decisions Released

Admissions decisions will be released on the following dates:

Grades 6-8: February 13th

Grades 9-12: February 21st

F-1 Student Visas: York Prep is a day school located in the heart of NYC. York does not provide boarding or allow homestays for international students.
